Following up on conditions on the pass with Tom at Grey Creek Store today and seeing recent reports from the Pass I might have to consider offering an alternate route for those wishing to bypass the pass via Creston - I have a tentative route plotted that would add an extra 50km and 400m of elevation to the original route over the pass (this should even out the advantage of skipping the pass) but am waiting on some local beta on the feasibility of the alternate route.
Likely still plenty of snow up there so there is going to be a couple hours of hiking through it over the top. The only alternative is an extended ride on the side of paved highways which is likely more hazardous than the snow hike. So I plan to keep the official route going over the pass.
